The investment underscores Foxconn’s commitment to scaling its operations in response to growing demand for Apple products manufactured in India.
TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker whose clients include Apple and Nvidia, said in a statement none of its employees or onsite construction workers had reported any related injuries.
Other big investors have cut their stakes in Apple. Earlier this month, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway said it had trimmed its position by 13%. Still, Buffett praised the company during Berkshire's annual meeting, saying the iPhone was "one of the greatest products."
Caltech previously won a $1.1 billion jury verdict against Apple and Broadcom in a dispute over some of the same patents, though a U.S. appeals court later ordered a retrial on the damages amount. The Pasadena, California university has since settled that case as well as related lawsuits against Samsung, Microsoft, and HP .
The Apple and Samsung gadgets distributor's consolidated net profit climbed to 3.26 billion rupees ($39.06 million) for the fourth quarter ended March 31, according to a regulatory filing.
The electronics manufacturers has over two dozen production facilities across the country. Dixon makes smartphones and feature phones for brands such as Xiaomi, Motorola, Samsung and Jio, and is in talks with other global brands for more manufacturing orders.
Ashok Chandak, president of IESA, expressed optimism during the MoU signing and said, "By leveraging IESA's domain expertise and FICCI's influential member network, we are poised to significantly increase investments from Indian conglomerates in the semiconductors and electronics sectors."
LG Electronics India aims to sustain its leadership in the home entertainment segment by continually introducing tailored products for the Indian market. Launching 55 AI-enabled TV models, LG expects 25-30% growth this year. With India as its priority market, LG plans to enhance its product lineup to meet evolving consumer demands.
"From 2020 through 2023, Apple prevented a combined total of over $7 billion in potentially fraudulent transactions, including more than $1.8 billion in 2023 alone," the iPhone maker said in a statement.
Alphabet's effort to build custom chips for AI data centers represents one of the few viable alternatives to Nvidia's top-of-the-line processors that dominate the market. Together with the software that is closely tied to Google's tensor processing units (TPUs), the chips have allowed the company to take a significant share of the market.
