Days after the government announced a mega incentive package to bring in semiconductor investments into the country, Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta group has said that it will invest up to Rs 60,000 crore to set up a sophisticated chip and glass manufacturing ecosystem in India over the next three years.
UMC will make a onetime payment to Micron of an undisclosed amount, the pair also said in separate statements on Thursday, without elaborating on reasons for their withdrawal agreement.
Co-president Jason Wang told an earnings call the expansion will take place at an existing UMC facility in the Tainan Science Park, with production scheduled to start from the second quarter of 2023.
